Clear Lake State Park — Campfire Program

August 24, Saturday 7:30pm

7:30 INTRODUCTION and WARM -UP: CLSP Staff and the Friends of Taylor Observatory
7:45 PERFORMANCE – Angelo Parisi and Terry England “The Sun Spots”
8:45 CAMPFIRE: Marshmallow Roasting – CLSP Staff
9:00-10:30 TELESCOPE VIEWING  at  the  CLSP Pavilion. Jupiter, Saturn,  the Albireo Double and numerous Deep Space Objects using four telescopes:  18”, 16” Dobsonians, a newly-configured 10” Newtonian and an 8” Schmidt-Cassegrain.

In this very special event, Angelo Parisi and Terry England team up for musical performance by “The Sunspots,” re-named for this event from the former “Big Bang Band Travelling Star Show.” For six years this very silly and unlikely group of astronomer-musicians brought their own brand of science education to elementary schools all over Sonoma County and had a rollicking good time doing so. The BBBTSS  received the Astronomical Society of the Pacific’s Los Cumbres Award for outstanding educational outreach to children K-12 and the lay public.
Friends of Taylor and Taylor Observatory are honored, for the 2nd time, to be featured at the revived Campfire Program at CLSP, this year with a real campfire. Angelo is the new Observatory Assistant at Taylor Observatory.  Kitty Doherty, and Supervisory Ranger Sabrina Buis will represent the CLSP.

The hour long program will be held at the Education Pavilion at Clear Lake State Park. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and maybe even some bug spray if desired. Rain will cancel the program.  Anyone having special needs should contact Clear Lake State Park staff Monday through Friday at (707) 279-4293

Location:   Clear Lake State Park is located at 5300 Soda Bay Road in Kelseyville, CA 95451.
