Thursday, December 21, 2023 will be the winter solstice and both the shortest day and longest night of the year. Join us as we delve into the reasons for this phenomenon and also look into how the winter solstice has been celebrated in cultures throughout the world and throughout history.
Following the show (weather permitting) guests are invited to stay and view the night sky through the observatory’s telescopes. The evening should present excellent views of the moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn and the moon.
Note: Winter will officially begin during the first show at 7:27pm.
