Winter Solstice
December 21 is the first day of winter and the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. For the next six months the days will grow progressively longer until once again the days will grow progressively shorter. What explains this phenomenon? How is this day celebrated throughout the world and throughout history?
Following the show (weather permitting) guest are invited to view the night sky through the Observatory’s telescopes.
